We develop inbred lines and hybrids for oilseed and confectionery markets, with a diverse collection of sunflower lines and breeding populations maintained.
Our research emphasizes early maturity, herbicide and disease resistance, and fatty acid composition. We collaborate with public and private researchers around the world to identify the best products for our customers. Each year thousands of breeding plots are planted, selected and crossed to develop elite lines.
Numerous jointly derived hybrids, as well as our own source hybrids, are tested each year at our Nuseed Innovation Centre at Woodland, as well as at other in-field locations. More than 130 bee isolation cages with a total area of 6 acres (2.5 hectares) under net are used to maintain the genetic purity of our finished inbreds and to facilitate crossing.
